Crusher Joe (1983 ) Nippon Sunrise Director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko Written by Haruka Takachiho.
Pt II When last we left our intrepid heroes...
Joe and Alfin were stranded in the forest region of the Planet Minaus, the result of Fighter One crash landing.
Ricky and Talos fate were unknown as the Minerva fled the scene of battle.
And now on to our story...
The remaining crew of the Minerva mange to find shelter at the Space Port where fire crews attend to the ailing ship.
Talos tells the head of the Space Port that he vitally needs to get the ship repaired refusing to abandon it despite being urged by the emergency crews.
The techs at the Space Port insist that the ship will explode but Talos will have none of it as he says he will pay whatever it takes to have it repaired.
Just then Ricky picks up an emergency message. The Chief Secretary to the President wishes to speak to them. Talos has no time for this until the Secretary mentions that this call is in concern with the rescue of his friends.
Meanwhile, Joe and Alfin wait in the forest pondering their fate. As they take shelter they discover they are being stalked by Nero and Norma lurking in the brush.
Shots are exchanged as each party tries to gain the upper hand. While Joe manages to subdue Norma, she manages to escape. Alfin is captured and threatened by Nero.
Nero's fate
Unfortunately for Nero he becomes a victim of the planet's wildlife as he is crushed by a sapien-like cyclops. Joe and Alfin run through the den of monsters and are rescued at the last minute by a VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) piloted by Talos. Meanwhile the injured Norma recognizes the aircraft.
As the crew are flown to safety and Talos informs Joe that it was the President Dupro Mardola that let them borrow this ship to rescue them, and offered to pay the expenses to repair the Minerva.
President Mardola |
Joe finds it strange but figures that since they owe the President they are obliged to meet with him.
Later the Crushers are given a chauffeured ride into the city where they are taken to a public drive in theatre to confer with the President.
Mardola informs the team that he want their help in eliminating the threat of Big Murphy and his pirate gang whose criminal network practically run the Planet.
It is also revealed that that it was Murphy who brought the cryogenic system and the suspended female passenger that the Joe team was contracted to transport to Miccola.
Joe asks the obvious question of asking why the President hasn't asked the Space Force for help, when the President tells him that due to the terraforming not yet being complete Murphy actually has the power to destroy the Planet.
Mardola explains that he has intel on the Pirates that he is willing to share with the Crushers, in exchange for their help in taking him down.
Joe is intrigued with the proposition but only agrees to deliver Murphy not execute him. Their primary interest is finding Valenstinos? Yosef.
The deal being set the Crushers prepare for their assault.
Mardola equips the Minerva for marine travel as the pirate base is set on a remote island.
As the team move out on remote sub to infiltrate the base, they leave their maintenance bot Dongo behind as their ace in the hole and to take care of the ship.
The team infiltrates the island using Talos and Ricky as the diversion, while Joe and Alfin try to find Murphy, Yosef and Elena.
While the team make their way around, the henchman Killie berates a group of doctors trying to revive the comatose Elena.
He is interrupted when he is told that Norma has returned with bad news. Together with Henchman Loki Killie finds out about Nero's death and the presence of the mysterious VTOL.
Norma speculates that the Crushers must been helped by some powerful allies. He orders her and Loki to search the island and find them.
Suddenly calamity ensues as the Crushers make their move. Planted explosives and gunfire erupt from the Joe team and in the chaos they make their way around the base.
Thrown into confusion the pirates are put on alert and start to deploy men and vehicles into the fray.
Unfortunately Talos and Ricky get captured in the process.
As Joe and Alfin wander around the base they run into Killie who manages to surround them.
Joe tries to bluff the pirate by saying there are more than just the four of them but Killie doesn't fall for the deception.
Joe decides to detonate one of the explosives that they planted and uses the confusion to get away.
The pair make their way to the elevator in an effort to reach the heliport at the top. When they realize that it doesn't go all the way the doors suddenly fly open and they find themselves in the medical section where they see Elena being treated.
They snatch Elena and make they way to the roof where they steal a small two man heli and make their escape, pondering the fates of the two they left behind.
Talos and Ricky are chained to the wall where Killie tries to extract information from them as to who had
given them the intel on the pirates. They deny that they were working with any one so Loki decides to try it his way by thrashing Talos.
Big Murphy enters the scene and he puts an end to the torture session by exerting his absolute authority.
He insults Loki for his stupidity and tells Killie to find the remaining Crushers and get his act together.

Alone in the forests Joe and Alfin along with an unconscious Elena elude the patrol of aircraft deployed by the Murphy gang.
The constant sound of gunfire revives the comatose Elena and as she comes to she explains that her real name is Joana Mature.
Mature explains that she was the assistant to Dr Barbos on the Planet Opus, and that she and the Doctor were conducting research into a revolutionary new warp drive.
However one of the downsides of the experiment was that the drive allowed for control of other ships warp drives to be externally manipulated.
Joe reasons that the pirates used the warp drive to cause the Minerva to go off course and kidnap Dr. Mature at the beginning.
Mature tells them that the warp controller must not be used for it could cause major distortions in the space time continuum.
Mature asks Joe about his line of work and the conversation turns to his father. Mature tries to reassure that his father does care for him but Joe is not having any of that.
The conversation is cut short as Big Murphy's auto hunters detect the trio and the surrounding gunfire attracts the attention of the Pirates.
Joe decides to implement plan C, which involves the Crushers be deliberately captured in the hopes of being re-united with Talos and Ricky.
They await as Norma approaches on a hover platform closing in on her prey.
