Dangaioh Volume III

Haja Taisei Dangaioh 破邪大星ダンガイオー (1988) Artmic

 Dangaioh  Gil Berg's Demonic Revenge:

Volume III opens with events taking place with the Daldal (Professor Tarsan's ship) orbiting the Planet Latecia, the homeworld of Roll Kran.

Blast

Two local rebels, Kilkel, Foak, and Space Mercenary Skeleton are being harassed by a mysterious floating Mech. Their transport is taken out and they before they can be finished off Dangaioh appears and challenges the menacing floating robot.

Kikel and Skeleton

The pilot recognizes Roll's voice and tells him he does not have the right to come back and threatens to send him to Hell again.

Roll is shaken up by the words causing him to hesitate in counterattacking causing Dangaioh to crash to the ground as the mysterious pilot flies off.

Back at the Daldal, Mai asks why Roll is so hesitant to fight for his
Homeworld and Roll says he feels something haunting about the voice he heard. Pai starts to get angry over Roll's reluctance when Mia and Lamba try to say that it could be due to the shock of him getting his memory back.

Burst and Flash

Elsewhere on the Planet the enemy pilots Burst and Flash report to the Bunker Pirate Dartila, The plan is to kidnap and isolate Roll from the rest of the team to prevent them from forming Dangaioh.

Roll goes down to the Planet solo in an effort to connect with his resistance friends. He takes an hover-bike down to an underground bunker where he is confronted by his former comrades.

Once a hero of the resistance, Roll's disappearance caused the morale to
fall and have the Planet fall to the influence of the Bunker. Kilkel and Foak , accuse Roll of abandoning them, but Mido, a girl from Roll's past doesn't believe his absence was the cause for their failure.

Kilkel has no trust for Roll but he is over-ruled by the Space Merc Skeleton. He says he is proud to work with him and is willing to take him on as his partner.

Mido

Being taken under trust, by protest, Roll contacts Mia saying that he is joining in a raid with his resistance friends to sabotage a Bunker base. He asks that his absence and actions be kept a secret and Mia tells him to be careful.

Roll and his companions mange to infiltrate the base by clandestinely hiding in the military debris that is being siphoned up into the base. Skeleton explains that the Bunker uses captured soldiers to use as parts in a biocomputer. The soldiers will becomes part of the computer and the goal is to rescue those who are not yet part of the machine.

Pai eventually finds out that Roll has gone Planet-side and asks if it's such a good idea to have such a sensitive guy on the team. Tarsan explains that Roll has an adverse fear of death due to the fact that he was murdered by members of his own combat unit before he joined the Dangaioh team.

In the base Roll comes to a dead end where he sees Kilkel and Foak but both men are dead and Roll runs into Flash and Burst. Both who were the perpetrators of his demise.

Skeleton shows up but when he removes his helmet it is revealed that he is actually Gil Berg. Roll recalls the events of his death and becomes comatose.

Gil sets up the trap to use Roll as bait for Mia Alice. Contact is made with the Daldal and Gil reveals himself to the remaining members of the team.

He demands that Mia arrive alone to the Planet, and failure to do so will result in Roll being transformed into one of the Bunkers Psychic soldiers.

She agrees to the terms and sets off alone, to try and rescue Roll. As she lands she faces her former enemy.

Onboard the Professor's ship Pai and Lamba decide to take off in order to assist Mia, figuring that if she and Roll are killed there turn will be next anyway.

Down on the Planet Gil tortures Mia with electrical torture all the while stating his disdain for her pity in the past, citing it as an insult to his warrior pride.

Mia tries to call to Roll using her telepathy but to no avail. Gil informs her that he has lost his will to fight and that is aware if she uses her power Roll will be killed by Burst and Flash.

Mia pleas for Roll to snap out of his frozen state and just as she is nearing the last of her strength he eventually starts to respond. Slowly he regains his power and manages to act slamming Gill to the ground while coming to Mia's aid.

Pai and Lamba arrive in the Dan-Mechanics and the team manages to combine into Dangaioh.

Burst and Flash arrive in their mechs the Rydoll and Blast, and double team Dangaioh. Both pilots mock Roll saying that he is about to face death again. Roll is not having any of it as he summons the collective energy of his teammates and holds his opponents in the Psychic Wave, while simultaneously rolling and crushing their mechs in a whirling death-pool.

He then summons up his anger and causes a shockwave directed at the Bunker floating base tearing the giant fortress to shreds, killing Dartila in the process.

The powerful bast can be seen from orbit as the people of Latecia marvel at the destruction of their overlords.

The team is worn out for all the energy being expended, but have little
The Gil Gear

time to celebrate as Gil appears in space in his mech the Gil Gear.

Dangaioh starts getting ravaged by the powerful mech due to using up so much energy on the Bunker base and Gil presses the attack using this to his advantage.

The Daldal opens fire on Gil to distract him but he assaults the ship damaging it to the point where the engines are comprimised.

Gil then turns his attack on Dangaioh shattering much of the exterior armour and uses a plasma cannon to knock Dangaioh out of orbit sending the mech crashing towards the Planet.

Mia uses her power to generate a force field to cushion the impact, but Dangaioh is still badly damaged by the crash.

Professor Tarsan contacts the team to tell them that he plans to use the warp beam to use all of Dangaioh's power to destroy Gil and transport them away. The four urge him to escape but he tells them that it's impossible due to the fact that the escape pod was damaged in the attack.

Gil flies down to finish the job but is astounded to find his enemy to still be intact. The professor tells them to focus their power and the four young espers gather all the energy they have left to launch the psychic wave.

Gil is shocked to find that the battered mech still has so much power and he manages to escape at the last minute before the Gil Gear is destroyed. The Professor fires the warp beam and the team manages to escape the explosion caused by the overload.

Gil goes back to Captain Garimos only to be promoted for his actions and told he will be replacing Dartila in his absence.

Meanwhile the Dangaioh team are adrift and unconscious in the remains of their cockpits in the darkness of space, lying in wait to be re-united again.

Alas it was not to be as this was the final chapter in the original Dangaioh saga. The ending was quite bold in that the villains won.
