Action Toys Machine Robo Mixer Robo

 

Mixer Robo Known as MR 36 was another minor character in the Revenge of Chronos anime. 

As far as I know he did appear as a character in Challenge of the Gobots, known as Block Head... original names those Gobots...

Still he's a cool figure so here's the review.

Vehicle Mode Mixer Robo transform into a  rear depositing cement truck. There is some die cast in the mixer drum that forms the back and head.

The mixing drum is diecast. The face can be hidden. Diecast is also included in the wheel wells in the legs.

Yeah nice touch covering up the face!

Size comparison with 3.3/4 inch figures.

The figure comes with a set of Bowie knives as its prime armaments. The robot mode looks excellent.

Mixer Robo has a similar wide head structure to Battle Robo.

Stand included.

The trend with action toys is to release the Machine Robo catalogue not on the principle characters in the anime but just the old lineup in general. While most of these characters were just in the background it's cool to see modern takes on these old classics.

Action Toys Machine Robo Eagle Robo

 

Eagle Robo was first introduced back in 1983 as MR 25 in the Machine Robo line. In North America many would know him as Leader One from Challenge of the Gobots.

As far as I know this mech was a side character in the Revenge of Chronos anime.

The signature mode of this character is turning into an F-15 Eagle.

The figures sidearm is an amalgamation of side panels mixed with his missile rack.

As a figure Eagle Robo is a very good jetformer. Not like others where the jet just lies on top of the robot. The transformation is quite innovative making for using the jet parts to be incorporated into the robot mode, rather than being a shell.

The unfortunate thing about this figure is the chest plate, though diecast is prone to paint chipping.

The face looks rather evil though, resembling that of a skull.

Very free of robot kibble in its alt mode. The scale is close to a Diaclone figure.

Impressive underside you would barely know there's a robot in there.

Action Toys Machine Robo Black Bird Robo

Black Bird Robo AKA Snoop from Challenge of the Gobots.

This figure transforms into the reconnaissance jet the SR-71 Blackbird.

This figure just seems to hit all the right buttons for me. From the blocky proportions to the retro Cylon-ish head this to me is what the Machine Robo series is all about.

This speaks to me...

Black Bird Robo transform into a VERY accurate depiction of the famed US spy plane.

In addition it has die cast moulded in the legs, which gives the figure great heft and balance. 

The figure comes armed with two rifles that unfortunately does NOT integrate well into its vehicle mode. When attached it elevates the jet's height so that the front landing gear doesn't touch the ground.

In conclusion I really like this figure.

Battle Robo from the anime Machine Robo Revenge of Chronos

In North America this figure was known as Tank from the Hanna Babera series Challenge of the Gobots.

Robot mode is where this this figure really shines. The sad part is that the tank mode is very small and compact making the vehicle mode underwhelming.

Not much really to say about this character after the fact so...

Overall this figure is a mixed bag. I personally have a soft spot for it in that I like Machine Robo mechs and watching the anime is a guilty pleasure.

The figure contains Die cast in the legs as well.
